As an aero-modeler of 25 years, I have learned that having high-quality ground support equipment is essential to having a positive experience while building or flying. Too many times in the past I have stressed my body and my aircraft by not having a secure platform to work from. Countless times I have caused the dreaded "hangar rash" by not transporting my aircraft appropriately.  Here, I present to you my first aircraft cradle design; The X-Stand. 

The X-Stand is feature-packed with a multitude of configuration options.  My goal from the very beginning of the design process was to create a stand that is nearly universal with all aircraft shapes and sizes. Combining inspiration from popular diy "PVC Pipe"  cradles with R/C helicopter frame design, I was able to land on the simple "X" shape that you see in my product. My engineering mind couldn't just stop there though, I had to make this thing fold down into a compact size for travel and storage. Not only do the main assemblies fold 90 degrees, but each arm will stow 45 degrees from their working position to create a long, yet narrow package size similar to that of a camping chair. With the beauty of 3D printing machines, a carry handle was quickly designed that doubles as a leg holder while in the fully stowed configuration.
